In addition to the sources cited by Dr. Ginther, I would recommend J.N.D.
Kelly's _Early Christian Creeds_. Kelly is a useful corrective to the
idea that credal formulas *always* reflect doctrinal disputes. Kelly's
_Early Christian Doctrines_ might also be worth checking for a short
summary of Arianism. And then there's always Hefele's magisterial
_History of the Councils of the Church_.
