Dear Folks: I wonder if anyone can help me track down the liturgy for the
"feast of St. James". I'm working on the visions of Hadewijch of Antwerp, a
13th-century Flemish beguine. One of her visions is dated on "may day, the
feast of St. James". The modern Dutch translation notes that this is May 1.
However, my list of saint's days does not list such a festival for May 1, and
the festival for Sts Phillip and James gives a different epistle reading than
Wisdom 5:1-5, the text cited in the notes as the epistle for St. James. Is
this perhaps a medieval or a Flemish festival? Any information would be
greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance! --Mary Suydam ([log in to unmask])
