Dear all,
I am currently teaching an undergraduate seminar entitled "Saints in Social
Context," which requires an in-depth research project on a particular saint
or text, using primary sources in translation. (They do not have Latin,
though a few have other languages.) The students are supposed to narrow down
their research topics by next week, and I would like to appeal to the
collective knowledge of the list to help two of them with this process.
One student was very interested in Margaret of Cortona, but I am unaware of
any translations from Latin of her *vita.* Does anyone out there know of a
translation of this text?
Another student desires a "violent" saint who participated in a war or
Crusade. He is considering St. Louis, but apparently was hoping for someone
a little more flashy, an Archbishop Turpin type. Can anyone suggest a
"saint" (the individual need not be canonized) that fits this profile, and
for whom there exist English-language translations of primary sources?
Lastly, a question of my own: I was intrigued by the entry on St. Ursulina,
virgin, for 7 April. Can anyone reccommend documentation about her in the
original languages?
Thanks -- and feel free to reply off-list if this seems too private a query.
