What is not so obvious is why it should prefigure the Resurrection.
Perhaps some Gentle Punters have information about this?
Dear Bill,
I suspect the resurrection connotations comes from the fact that Eliseus
was --going up to the house of the Lord--. This would echo the Lucan and
Johannine notions of Jesus'final going up to Jerusalem (and the temple), a
journey climaxing in his going up the cross and then rising up from the
tomb. As he made this upward journey, various people--soldiers, onlookers,
one of those crucified with him--mocked him. I don't have time right nowto
check in the Glossa ordinaria or Hugh of St. Cher right now, but they might
provide corroboration.
