Certainly to this day, coronation has many of the qualities associated
with a sacrament: anointing, communion, the idea of being consecrated
for life. Monastic profession would be another example of a "quasi-
sacrament". Both of these rites in a sense confer "character" (the
technical term for the quality imparted by baptism, confirmation,
matrimony and ordination, making a difference to the status of the
person).
