I want to thank everyone who took the time to answer my
question on how to render "postilla" in a handful of
sermons I'm translating. The sentimental favorite seems to
be "postil," but I have decided to use "commentary," in
that the latter choice is more descriptive of what is being
done in the sections so labeled and requires less
explanation. Interestingly enough, in the sermon I just
finished translating, the Biblical text of the postilla
appears nowhere else in the sermon. Anyone else out there
come across similar examples?
