>Dear List,
> I was wondering if anyone knows of an English translation of
>Richard Rolle's Latin treatise Melos Amoris?
As Louise Nelstrop says, it seems that the only complete translation is
into French:
Le chant d'amour (Melos amoris) Texte Latin de l'edition E. J. F.
Arnould. Introduction et notes par Francois Vandenbroucke. Traduction par
les Moniales de Wisques. Paris, Editions du Cerf, 1971.
There is an early 20th-century English compilation called "The Fire of
Love; or, Melody of Love", but, strangely enough, that seems to be drawn
only from the _Incendium Amoris_:
The fire of love : or, Melody of love, and The mending of life;
or, Rule of living / translated by Richard Misyn from the
'Incendium amoris' and the 'De emendatione vitae' of Richard
Rolle, Hermit of Hampole ; edited and done into modern English
by Frances M. M. Comper, with an introduction by Evelyn
Underhill. London : Methuen, 1914.
