These remarks are completely right, but they were non the less right
also before St. Francis, weren't they? Hrabanus Maurus quotes a lot
of Psalms treating beasts and birds in his De Universo, but none of
the authors before Hugh of St. Victor devoted the whole work to the
birds only.
