Is this the same saint that some scholars think was actually based on
the life and martyrdom of the mathematician, Hypatia of Alexandria?
I would have de-lurked sooner and introduced myself, but I am actually a
spy from the hard sciences, specifically physics. Not to be unfriendly,
but in this area I qualify as a abject amateur, so I'll just go back to
lurking until I recognize something. I was lured here by an interest in
the history of mathematics and science, some of which ends up being
revealed in religious art and iconography.
