At the Institutional Web Management workshop a number of people commented on
the need for application specific Mailbase lists to complement the general
web support lists, such as website-info-mgt and web-support.
My colleagues at UKOLN have just set up a list called
web-support-siteserver which provides a forum for discussion of technical
issues arising from the use of Site Server 3.0 with Windows NT 4, IIS 4.0,
Visual InterDev, FrontPage 98, Microsoft Access, etc. to create and manage
web sites.
This list will be useful for the increasing numbers of web support staff who
are responsible for running web services on Windows NT, which, as we at the
workshop, is happening to an increasing number of people (sometimes
voluntarily, sometimes not!)
The web page for the list is available at:
<URL: http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/web-support-siteserver/>
Note that at UKOLN we will shortly be releasing an online magazine based on
the SiteServer software. We'd be interested in seeing if there is interest
in a day's technical workshop on use of SiteServer, Visual InterDev and
backend databases as we've a lot to learn.
Thanks
Brian
