Dear Listmembers,
I received your generous help earlier this year when I needed the
address of the publisher Gairm. Now my problem is as follows:
Our department (Dept. of English, U. of Turku) wanted to buy a
Glc-English dictionary with instructions on pronunciation, and Derick S.
Thomson's dictionary, published by Gairm, was the one we decided on. Now
Blackwell's, through whom we usually order, says that the book is
no longer available. Would any of you know (1) where we could
possibly get hold of a copy, or (2) what other dictionary would fit the
description? We definitely want the pronunciation of each word
individually denoted, not just a general outline on pronunciation, as in
Dwelly's. Our main library for instance has a Glc dictionary which calls
itself a pronouncing dictionary but isn't (sorry I can't remember the
author/title).
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Outi Pickering
