Hello,
Do not worry, I am not expecting any of you to answer the above question
The answer is already known and at the end of the message :-)
But, first I would like to thank Dr D.Durling and Dr K.Russel for their
prompt response to the emerging communication needs of 'PhD in Design'
discussion, by establishing this list and providing us with necessary
information to subscribe. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
We are only 15 in the list at the moment, but I am sure that the number
will rise rapidly. In Columbus, we were about 60. So I guess, until
everbody subscribes to the list, the 'real' discussion will not take off.
But, considering that the name of the list ( PhD-Design ) may scare off
some of our new colleagues to start the discussion, and to help the list
warm up, I have decided to send the following joke.
It was sent to me by a colleague of mine in two years ago. Its title says that
it is about "PhD", but I think that it has a stronger reference to tenure
system in the states rather than "PhD".
Enjoy...

A PhD story:
Why God never received a Ph.D.
1. He had only one major publication. It was in Hebrew, had no
references, and wasn't even published in a refereed journal.
(Some even doubt he wrote it by himself.)
2. It may be true that he created the World, but what has he done since
then?
3. His cooperative efforts have been quite limited.
4. The scientific community has had a hard time replicating his results.
5. He never applied to the ethics board for permission to use human
subjects.
6. When one experiment went bad he tried to cover it by drowning his
subjects.
7. When subjects didn't behave as predicted, he deleted them from the
sample.
8. He rarely came to class, just told students to read the book.
(Some say he had his son teach the class.)
9. He expelled his first two students for learning.
10.Although there were only 10 requirements, most of his students
failed his tests.
11.His office hours were infrequent and usually held on a mountain top.
