Since posting a message to the list earlier about 'digests', it
has just been pointed out to me that I was wrong. Mailbase have
indeed responded to user comments and the system now has a
digest option, set by users. I am not sure that too many people
know about this though...
About digests
Normally you will receive messages from a list one at a time, as
and when they are posted to the list. But if you set the digest
option you'll get longer and less frequent messages containing
several messages concatenated together. Some people find this
more convenient, especially on busy lists.
This 'digest' will be sent every night, or when more than 20
messages have been sent to the list.
Setting digests
To receive messages as a digest, send this command to
[log in to unmask] (Type the name of your list instead of
listname)
set listname digest
And to stop receiving messages as a digest, send this command to
[log in to unmask]
set listname nodigest
Replying to digests
When you reply to a digest you must consider other list members
and:
Think about whether you want to email the entire list
(the default), or just the sender of the original message.
Change the subject field appropriately, as a message
saying "Re: Digest" is not meaningful
Only quote the relevant message, or message part
