This half-day course will give an in depth coverage of the best ways to
use the Internet to retrieve a wide variety of information which will be
of value to information professionals using insurance information on a
regular basis.
The course will begin with an introduction to more effective searching
of the Internet using a variety of different search engines, which ones
to use when, their advantages and disadvantages. The next session will
cover Internet sources in the field of insurance in depth. The final
session will give delegates the opportunity for hands on experience of
searching for themselves, and will be a chance to explore search engines
and visit sites which they may not otherwise have discovered for
themselves.
While an in depth knowledge of the Internet is not a requirement,
delegates will get most out of the course if they have already used the
Internet, and have a familiarity with some of the basics. The course
will use Windows-based PCs and Netscape as the browser.

Phil Bradley is an information professional who has been working in the
field of electronic publishing for the last eight years. He has worked
for SilverPlatter Information Ltd as Head of European Technical Support
and Director of Training. He is now an independent consultant in matters
related to CD-ROM and Internet publishing, and is the author of a number
of books and articles which cover these subjects. Phil travels
Worldwide running training sessions and giving talks on electronic
publishing and worked for both large and small companies nationally and
internationally.
He is currently on the Management Committee of UKOLUG and on the Board
of Directors for CD-ROM SPAG
John Gaynor is Information Manager at Worldwide Intellectual Resources
Exchange Ltd (WIRE Ltd). Before this he worked in the City of London
for the European branch of a multinational in the insurance field. John
has extensive Internet experience and a wide-ranging knowledge of
insurance information needs and resources.
