Introduction to the workshop:
This workshop will begin by looking at some of the issues arising from
the Year 2000 and how they will affect the information professional
specifically. The reasons why the use of two digit date fields is
problematic will be discussed and the hardware and software likely to be
affected examined. Delegates will have a chance to compile a checklist
of Year 2000 questions which will help them in addressing issues in
their own working environment. The latest research findings on the Year
2000 will be presented as well as case studies from organisations that
have formulated a strategy.
Course objectives:
The course is aimed at all information professionals who are keen to
have the necessary awareness of the Year 2000 problem to enable them to
evaluate how it might affect their own department. By the end of the
