EARL NEW LIBRARY CONTENT WORKSHOPS

EARL, the Consortium for Public Library Networking is pleased to announce
the first in its series of New Library content workshops.

The nature of content for new library is still under discussion and it is
EARL's intention to offer a series of workshops which address these issues
over the next few months, particularly as the reports from the LIC Task
Groups on New Library become available and guidelines for New Opportunities
Fund grants are published.  It is vital that we are all as prepared as
possible to hit the ground running when the moment arrives.

The first of these events, New Content - New thinking, is intended for
those who are actively involved in day-to-day service planning and
delivery.  It will be held on Monday 19th October at Westminster City
Archives, St Ann's Street, SW1

It will offer an opportunity to discuss the new ways of thinking and
collaborative working necessary to develop electronic content and services
which will meet users needs and expectations.  

A fee of £40.00 for EARL Partners and £60.00 for non-partners will be charged.

1.00: 	Putting things in context
	A brief resume of New Library and current Government information age policies
1.20: 	What IS content?
	A presentation on how current content and New Library content will differ
	Chris Batt, Chair EARL management Board

2.00: 	New thinking - approaches to networked content and services
	Sarah Ormes and  Sally Criddle, UKOLN
	A participative session looking at different approaches to exploiting
networking tools to deliver 	content and services.  Literature will be
taken as the exemplar for this session.
3.30:	 Tea
3.45:	Mapping the territory
	Drawing conclusions from the day on ways towards New Library content
4.30: 	Close
