Dear Colleagues,
As you may know there are three FDTL-funded projects dealing
collectively with all aspects of residence abroad within modern
language and related degrees. Last Spring we jointly ran a series of
workshops entitled Residence Abroad Matters (RAM). These were
attended by some 140 delegates and we have now published summaries of
these on the National Residence Abroad (NRAD) website.
The RAM workshops focussed on the following 5 topics:
1. The Objectives of Residence Abroad and the Implications on
Curriculum Design;
2. The Assessment and Accreditation of Periods of
Residence Abroad;
3. Different Types of Residence Abroad;
4. Preparation and Experience: Intercultural
Issues;
5. Preparation and Experience: Language and
Academic Activities;
The summaries show the chief issues and concerns surrounding
residence abroad as identified by the sector at the present time.
There are also insights into individual practice.
You can find the summaries from the NRAD website
(http://nrad.fdtl.ac.uk/nrad/index.htm) - just follow the link
