Last tuesday I watched 'Thelma and Louise' on CBS for the first time - and
seeing people like Susan Sarandon, Michael Madsen and Harvey Keitel in
there made me wonder again if it would be legitimate to speak of a group or
even a school of filmmakers. This school then would stretch from 'Fargo' to
Madonna and would include Quentin Tarantino, Steve Buscemi, Jim Jarmusch
and Nick Cassevetes - but not, for example, Woody Allen or Hal Hartley or
Martin Scorsese. What is it that these people have in common? How did they
come to know eachother? Is there a central figure? And, most importantly,
is there a programme?
Thanks,
Rutger Cornets.
