U.S. AID SEEKS REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR
FOR CENTRAL AMERICA
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking
proposals from persons interested in providing PSC services as an
environmental advisor for Central America. The person will be based
in Guatemala at the Office of Regional Sustainable Development,
Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC/RSD) and travel

The person will assist USAID/Guatemala-Central America programs
(GCAP), the four Central America bilateral USAID Missions (Honduras,
Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Panama), regional and international

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY SEEKS ASSOC PROFESSOR
IN PARKS AND TOURISM SCIENCES
Texas A&M University wishes to appoint an Associate Professor
and Extension Specialist in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences
Applicants should have extension and applied research experience
in tourism with an emphasis in private sector natural resource based
recreation and tourism, commercial recreation and / or eco tourism.

management, marketing and product development at the firm or enterprise

RIVER WATCHDOG WANTED FOR VERMONT AND NEW HAMPSHIRE
The CT River Watershed Council (CRWC) is seeking applicants
for its River Steward position. Founded in 1952, CRWC is the
principal river conservation organization serving the entire the CT
River. The River Steward is a river conservation advocate, watch-dog
and problem-solver. She/he also provides CRWC with an active on
and off-river presence. The new position is full-time and will be based
in and serve the Upper Valley portion of the CT River in Vermont and
New Hampshire. The successful candidate should have three or more
years experience working on watershed management, habitat protection,
river/land conservation, family farming and/or forestry, or like resource
based activities. Graduate level education is highly desired. Must have
excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well

The Department of Fishery and Wildlife Biology, College of Natural
Resources, Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, Colorado
will appoint an Assistant Professor in Social Dimensions in Wildlife
Management. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in a discipline related to
the duties as described as follows The candidate should have at least
two years practical experience in teaching/extension/research related
to this position, either post-doctoral and/or pre-doctoral. She or he
should have at least one degree in wildlife or closely-related natural
resources, such as fisheries, conservation biology, or recreation.

ENVIRONMENT CENTRE IN HUNGARY SEEKS OUTREACH OFFICER
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern
Europe (REC) is looking to hire an Outreach Officer to
work at its headquarters in Szentendre, Hungary. REC is a
non-partisan, non-advocacy, not-for-profit organisation with
a mission to assist in solving environmental problems in Central
and Eastern Europe (CEE). This position is within the Local
Office and Outreach Department of the REC. The department is
responsible for overseeing, assisting and co-ordinating the activities,
development and projects of the RECs 15 local offices. The position
is challenging in that it requires flexibility, a variety of skills, strong

CSIRO AUSTRALIA WANTS A REGIONAL MODELLER
The Centre for Arid Zone Research in Alice Springs, NT, Australia
(CSIRO) wishes to hire a regional modeller/systems analyst. It is
looking for someone with a few years post- Ph.D., and definitely with
some cross-disciplinary interests. The person would undertakes primary
research aimed at the ecology and management of Australia's arid and
semi-arid lands, but is increasingly focusing on the social and policy
context of decision making. CSIRO is seeking to appoint a research
scientist to collaborate with existing projects and develop new areas
of research at the regional scale. The goal is to integrate the
environmental,
social and economic outcomes of different balances of land use and
management practices, in a way that can be applied to the vast diversity
of regions in the Australian rangelands. The successful candidate will have
some experience in both biological and social sciences, and a willingness
to learn about the complex way in which spatial and temporal variability
affects management in rangelands. The person will have a demonstrated
ability to analyse and quantify complex problems is essential. Experience
of social geography with a quantitative bias, or ecological economics, or
systems analysis and simulation would be valuable. Some knowledge of
the policy environment in Australia would be useful. Salary range is Aus

The Governors of the Wellcome Trust, in the United Kingdom
invite applications from developing country university students
for Research Training Fellowships in Wildlife Conservation.
This scheme has been established to address the urgent issue of the loss of
biological diversity in tropical areas. The awards offer research training
opportunities for young wildlife conservation workers from developing
countries who wish to carry out research relevant to the management of
globally significant biodiversity resources in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, or
Latin America. Through this training scheme it is hoped that a cadre of
individuals will be established who are uniquely positioned to make
significant contributions to the conservation of wildlife in their own
