Re: Studies in Science Education: Review
of Research in Environmental Education
Date: October 26, 1998
I have been asked by the editor of Studies in
Science Education to develop a review of
research in environmental education. The
review is to be Òanalytical and criticalÓ
rather than simply an exhaustive bibliography.
It should cover a wide range of international
sources that go beyond North America, the UK,
and Australia. The editor is open to inclusion
of curricular, philosophical, ethical, and
political dimensions of the research
literature.
Given this mandate I shall be working over the
next few months to identify key research
articles and scholarly papers that might
warrant inclusion in such a review. I would be
grateful if you could assist me in this rather
daunting task by identifying key research
articles or reviews of research in
environmental education that you think warrant
inclusion in such a review.
My goal is to try to represent, as best I can,
the wide variety of methods and methodologies
that currently enrich our field of
environmental education. I want to try to
portray the field of environmental education
research as accurately and fairly as possible,
as it has evolved over the years and as it is
evolving. I can only do this with your help.
So . . . I invite your comments, suggestions,
and as much help as you can provide. If you
are able to contribute to the review directly
by writing a section (perhaps as it relates to
your region or country), I shall be pleased to
acknowledge your contribution within the
review.
Please respond by email, fax, or regular mail
as listed below.
Thank you in advance for your advice,
participation, and good will in assisting me
with this challenging task.
I look forward to your response.
