No matter what you put in the argument of SELECTED_CHAR_KIND, you just
remove the question of standard values by one layer. You might as
well standardize the kind values for characters, or promulgate a
standard module that has standard names for parameters for the kind
values for characters. F2000 will have at least three standard values
for character kinds: default, ascii, and iso10646. It's possible that
default will be neither ascii nor iso10646 on some systems, e.g. JIS-1.
There's still some question whether the mechanism will be an intrinsic
function that takes a character string argument (with values specified
by the standard), or a standard module (with a name specified by the
standard) that exports parameters (with names specified by the standard)
for the standard character kind values.
The arguments of SELECTED_INT_KIND and SELECTED_REAL_KIND don't require
standardization.
