Fixed Term Contract for eighteen months in the first instance
Salary: A&C 5, £14,122 - £16,520 per annum
A Medical Statistician is required to play a major role in
introducing
and running a statistical consultancy service for Nottingham City
Hospital NHS Trust. The appointed person will work as part of a team
providing clinicians in a wide variety of specialties with help and
advice. After formal training with experienced statisticians, the
appointed person will be responsible for statistical advice and
training, initially with supervision and will gain the skills and
experience necessary to plan and conduct research in any medical
field
of interest. Active encouragement will be given for the development
of personal research interests within one or more of the research
areas in the hospital and to register for a further degree.
Working as part of a lively team in the Resource Centre, which is
well-equipped with computer facilities and expertise, the
Statistician
will work closely with the Research Co-ordinator in developing this
new service. There will be formal links with the Trent Institute for
Health Services Research, based within the University of Nottingham,
Faculty for Medicine and Health Sciences working with and learning
from the senior statisticians. Through the Trent Institute, there is
also the opportunity of post-graduate teaching and supervision.
The successful applicant will be a graduate, and will possess, or be
studying for an MSc in Medical Statistics. Experience of consultancy
would be advantageous, but is not essential,as training and support
will be provided.
