Eleventh International Statistical Conference of Genstat Users
Poznan, Poland, 18-21 May 1999
Second Announcement and Registration Form
Scope of the meeting
--------------------
The conference, which takes place every two years, allows delegates to discuss
their statistical interests in the context of the Genstat statistical system.
The programme covers a wide range of application areas as well as the
development of new statistical methodology. Participants can exchange news
about the latest Genstat developments, gain insight into ways in which they can
better exploit the facilities that Genstat provides, and influence the plans or
future developments.

Scientific program
------------------
The Scientific Programme will contain invited papers on three topics:
Visualization and the STABLE project
STABLE is an ESPRIT project funded by the European Union. It has linked
Genstat together with the Iris Explorer visualization system to provide a
visual programming environment for statistical work. We have invited two of the
developers to talk about the system as developed so far, and its potential for
the future.
Developments of REML methods for correlated data
There has been rapid development of REML techniques for fitting models with
complex correlation structure. This has been a major priority of the Genstat
team, and many users of the system have contributed and made use of the new
facilities.
Modelling
Genstat provides facilities for a very wide range of modelling techniques:
empirical and structural, stochastic and deterministic. We hope that this
invited session will explore some of the less well known aspects of modelling.
Contributed papers may be on any subject concerning statistical methods and
Genstat, including:
Developments of statistical methodology through Genstat
Interesting and innovative applications of Genstat
Use of Genstat in statistical education
Future Genstat developments
The scientific sessions will start on Tuesday 18th May in the morning, and the
conference will end by mid-afternoon on Friday 21st May.
