Gottfried Helms, has set up a newslist for discussion of corresponding
regressions and causation.
He sent me the following instructions on how to join the group.
Corresponding regressions is a new method for inferring formal causation.
A number of interesting issues have arisen in the heated discussions of CR
that have occured over the past year on SEMNET. We are attempting to look
more closely at the idea of additivity in modeling and at notions of
complexity. The discussion began yesterday with a consideration of the
difference between fixed and random effects ANOVA designs and how this
might put light on the limitations of normally distributed variables in SEM
studies. The theme of this initial concern is whether or not the samples
used in most SEM studies lack sufficient discernment of causal functions
and are more or less based on what ever nature "Throws" at the
investigator.
We would welcome discussion with any statisticians interested in examining
the fundamental issues of inferring causation from correlation. Bill

The list CR-NET is run from my site at Kassel/Germany.
It is unmoderated, but not free for anonymous input. Subscription
and so on is like you know it from SEMNET; an archive is automati-
cally maintained.
---- Messages to the maintaining program:----------------
To subscribe CR-NET send a message to
Mail Server <[log in to unmask]>
with subject :"subscribe"
and the body:
"subscribe cr-net "
Don't use the "-quotes. The message-body may not contain empty lines
before the "subscribe" - request. (The first empty line stops the
mailing-program from reading ahead). To get help send a mail with
only the statement "help" in the body. The mail-server provides you
then with a list of available commands.
Send subscribing-request: mailto:[log in to unmask]
---- Messages to the workshop ----------------------------------
You may want to add the email-address of the list/of the workshop to
your addressbook. Please send all your articles to
"Workshop of corresponding Regression" <[log in to unmask]>
Regards
Gottfried Helms and William Chambers
