"Nonparametric Bayesian Regression Methods".
A common problem in statistics, and other disciplines, is to
approximate adequately a function of several variables. In a statistical
setting this is known as multiple regression. I shall introduce
nonparametric regression models that utilise Bayesian methods to
provide good predictive performance. Briefly, this involves setting up a
parameter vector which includes all the unknown variables
and using the reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm to
simulate from the posterior of this vector given the data.
Particular emphasis is placed on the Bayesian partition model which
provides a unifying approach to both regression and
classification.
