I got frustrated by our QC being in all sorts of places - the lab computer,
on analyser's PCs, on analyser PGP interfaces and on paper log sheets. To
bring everything together for downloadable QC data or manually entered I
simply set up templates in MS EXCEL97. This enables simple, dynamic stats &
Levy-Jennings plots etc. to your own design (eg before and after reagent
lot change). If you need clever stats you could use the ANALYZE-IT add in
or some of the fancy graphics packages. The point is the tool is
widespread, industry standard rather than a dedicated QC package.
It can also incorporate your method log of reagent and QC batches,
recalibration dates, instrument maintenance and anything else you need for
accreditation or TQM plus EQA performance alongside routine QC.
Colour printing gives you some pretty charts to stick on the wall almost at
the click of a mouse.
