We have on a number of occasions measured post mortem carbon monoxide
levels using a co-oximeter. The sample is usually haemolysed and in
one case it was necessary to dilute 1:1 with de-ionised water in order
to obtain an acceptable result.
Although the value for total haemoglobin will be inaccurate the other
co-ox parameters are expressed in percentage terms and will still be
valid.

Has anybody any experience in measuring post mortem carbon monoxide levels using
a co-oximeter? The main problem would seem to be the quality of the sample.
