You may have to set up the assay yourself. I did many years ago when I was
looking at D and L lactic acid in faeces and ileostomy fluid. I found
roughly equal amounts in most types of malabsorption except patients with
diverticular disease where it was mainly D lactic acid. I assumed the L
enantiomer was metabolised by bacteria in the diverticulae but I never got a
chance to follow it up.
How does your lady have D lactic acidosis?
