Does anyone have information about measuring leucine aminopeptidase
(LAP) levels in serum. Our rheumatologist is interested in doing this as
a study in order to test the hypothesis that LAP is a valuable
surrogate marker for disease activity in SLE and related conditions.
I am aware that Sigma have an assay but this uses
L-leucyl-B-naphthylamide as substrate. It appears that this is inferior
to using L-leucylamide as substrate, because only the latter has high
specificity for the cytosolic LAP released from damaged lymphocytes in
SLE.
The only information that I have regarding using L-leucylamide as
substrate is that ONO Pharmacy in Osaka, Japan produce a test called
ULTRET LAP.
Can anyone help? Has anyone any information on ONO Pharmacy? Advice and
comments gratefully accepted.
