Could anyone please help with the following question:
We have had a query from our Paediatricians regarding the use of N-Acetyl B
D-Glucosaminidase as a marker of renal function. This is in a cystic
fibrosis child who has had acute renal failure in the past secondary to
aminoglycoside antibiotics. She has been managed for several years on other
antibiotics but is rapidly becoming resistant to them and may need to be
given aminoglycosides again.
The clinician seems to remember a recent journal article regarding the use
of this marker in assessing renal function in CFs treated with
aminoglycosides.
Could anyone help with this one, or does anyone know of an assay in
existance for it ?
Thanks in advance
