** New Job Vacancies Service
-------------------------
The job vacancies pages on the NISS Noticeboard have been popular reading
for users throughout the UK education community for some considerable time.
The type of information available via these pages has now been transformed
into the basis of a new and separate job vacancies service. The Vacancies
Editor gives more detail below.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new service, "Vacancies", at the
URL http://www.vacancies.ac.uk/
This will replace the very popular service that has been available up to
now as part of the NISS Noticeboard and prior to that on the NISS Bulletin
Board.
The new service will continue to be completely free to academic users. It
will allow academic and research sites the opportunity to advertise posts at
all levels including postgraduate research studentships.
In order to cover the increasing scope of jobs being advertised the categories
under which the vacancies are classified has been widened. The new collections
are based on the HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) subject areas, with
additional categories to include posts in university services, support and
administration, research fellowships and studentships, as well as short-term
appointments and work placements. Full details about these categories can be
found on the new site at http://www.vacancies.ac.uk/help/hesasubj.html
Users of the Vacancies service can browse these individual subjects and
categories. Alternatively you can carry out keyword searches, including
searching by geographical location across all the categories.
If you wish to send us details about a forthcoming or current job vacancy you
can continue to submit the adverts by email, but the new service also provides
an online submission form. This lets advertisers post the details directly
into the Vacancies database.
Guidelines for using the new Vacancies service can be found on the site at
the URL www.vacancies.ac.uk/help/about.html
Further enhancements are planned for this service and feedback from users
is always welcomed and should be addressed to the Editor at [log in to unmask]
Thank you !
