US EPA GRANTS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will provide grantsunder its
new
Sustainable Development Challenge Grant Program, to
support partnering among community, business, and government entities
to work cooperatively to develop flexible, locally-oriented approaches
that link place-based environmental management, and quality of life
activities
with sustainable development and revitalization. Deadline for application is
November 24, 1998. Funds are available to develop place-based approaches
to problem solving related to current patterns of urban growth and public
investment/disinvestment, patterns that accelerate loss of open space and
wetlands, and increase consumption of fossil fuels for energy and
transportation.
While state agencies are eligible they are encouraged to work in partnership
with community groups to strengthen their proposals.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS
The Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB), Private Sector
Department (PRI) is interested in hiring a consultant to assist in
dealing with environmental and social aspects of IDB-funded
private sector projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The position is for a junior to mid-level environmental/social
consultant to be hired on a one-year, renewable, full-time consultant

The consultants principal duty will consist of preparing the

WORLD WILDLIFE FUND NEEDS ADVISOR FOR THE CONGO
The World Wildlife Fund based in Switzerland is seeking a
Technical Advisor For The Democratic Republic of Congo.
The position will be based within the Ministry of Environment,
Nature Conservation, and Tourism in Kinshasa, Democratic
Republic of Congo (DRC). The major functions include providing
scientific and technical advice/support to the Congolese Institute
for the Conservation of Nature (ICCN) and the Ministry of Environment,
Nature Conservation, and Tourism (MENCT).
The person will provide a general review for MENCT of natural
resource management in the DRC, including the status of protected

World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a non-governmental
organization fostering human development and global understanding
through education and training, is seeking consultants for short term
overseas contracts in developing countries in Africa, Asia and South
America. WUSC regularly bids on projects in various sectors in
developing countries. Funding sources include the World Bank, the
Asian Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and
CIDA. USC is seeking professionals that have a university graduate
or post-graduate education in a related field; and, at least 10 years of
working experience in a developing country If you meet the requirements
