Some reasons for choosing f95:
1. We're weary of programs which have to be recompiled each time our problem
size or shape changes. Allocatable arrays might even run faster than larger
fixed size arrays with empty spaces.
2. Adoption of f90 by our colleagues
3. Promise (not entirely realized yet) of ability to emphasize clarity and
resolve unpleasant compromises between portability and performance
4. It's the only language suitable for engineers maintaining their own
applications, many of which have roots going back 30 years or more, but
frequently require rapid assimilation of new techniques. Yes, the old and the
new combined harmoniously.
