Can you state what you want without reference to OS or hardware?
I've tried, and I'm having difficulty. Maybe I'm just not up to
the wordsmithing.
"Without record terminator" refers to how the OS implements Fortran
records.
"Leave cursor on the same line" refers to how the hardware interprets
a character sequence.
Don't get me wrong- I consider the functionality useful,
and would love to see it become portable as being part of the standard
would do, I'm just having trouble wordsmithing...
Maybe it's like smut ;-)
