The role of records management in a period of dynamic change will be
examined in the SoA's Records Management Group training day to be
held in SOAS, London, on 10 November. The objective of the day is to
consider the issues concerning organisational and technological
change from a number of different perspectives. Issues such as
providing continuing access to records, the effects of changing ways
of working and technological innovation will be considered. Speakers include
Martin Waldron from In-Form Systems, Richard Taylor from Railtrack,
a company which was established following the privatisation of BR, Dr
Peter Durrant, who managed the transition of records management services in
the period leading up to the abolition of Berkshire County Council
and the establishment of the new authorities, and Alex Lindsay-Scott
from Xerox.
There will be an opportunity in the afternoon for discussion and a
chance to exchange views on the subject. Questionnaires
will be circulated before the event so delegates can consider the
respective roles of records management and IT in their particular
organisations.
The cost is 65 pounds for members of the SoA and 80 pounds for
non-members, inclusive of lunch. For further details and a booking form, please see the
SoA web page at http://www.archives.org.uk or contact Susan Bradshaw,
tel/facs 01872 273440.
