This is excellent news. Once the database is available on the web, it will
be possible to talk real time with doctors in training to work out the
appropriate local stategy to investigate and monitor the management of
individual difficult poisoning cases, using the data from the horses mouth
rather than trying to work with what a clerkess read back, transcribed by a
nurse and then filtered through the mind of a tired, inexperienced and
possibly frightened junior doctor. Viewdata access via a modem is a non
starter in many Trusts, except via a dedicated PC, for most trusts will have
removed modems from PCs carrying, or with access to, live patient data.
