>Birth, marriage and death: ritual, religion and the life-cycle in Tudor

Just to add my two cents--David Cressy is in the history department at CSU,
Long Beach, and recently gave a presentation of material from his current
book at a meeting of our Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
Though his work deals with an era a little later than what I usually concern
myself with, I found his cultural studies approach fascinating. He has some
rather new, and in his opinion, controversial, theories as to the causes of
the English Civil War, and as they are religious in nature, they might prove
of interest to many on the list.
Also, thanks again to all of the people who responded to my inquiry
regarding spices and Hildegard. We discussed this at some length at our
dinner, and I was thankful to be able to add your many comments.
