*Sanctorum. Bollettino dell'Associazione Italiana per lo Studio della
Santita`, dei Culti e dell'Agiografia* 2 (1997). Roma: Viella. 1997. 197
pp. Not for sale; available only to members of the AISSCA.
Santa Claus (*not* that pagan 'Father Christmas' :-> ) came early last
week when I received *Sanctorum*. It is an impressive, informative and
very useful publication, going far beyond what one normally finds in a
work intended 'for members only'. In addition to detailed descriptions
of the many and varied activities of the AISSCA (whose President is
Sofia Boesch Gajano), one finds pages of information regarding:
conferences, seminars and exhibitions; bibliographical notices; and
doctoral theses in progress. Best of all is the list of members, with
not only their addresses but a staggering list of their books and
articles. At the end of the volume is a copy of the statutes of the
association, and a form for joining the AISSCA; regular membership is
Italian lire 100,000 (discount of 50% to those without employment).
For more information (and the official membership application form), one
