PLEASE NO! - this would really be mixing things up badly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but:
DATE refers to the instantiation of the *resource*
(and SOURCE where the resource can be found), whereas
COVERAGE refers to the domain of the *content* (both time and space).
As discussed before, these are semantically distinct
(though in a few application domains DATE may be used
to deduce COVERAGE.date merely because the content is
necessarily "current" and therefore closely tied to the
time the resource is issued/created).
