Dear sapientes,
I recently read an exemplum on Robert of Courson wreaking havoc as only he
could during his crusade legation by digging up bodies of recently buried
usurers and demanding that they be buried in unhallowed ground. Of course,
the gravediggers find black toads stuffing burning coins down the bloated
corpse's throat and other such images perfect for terrifying usurers in
one's audience. One such anecdote is located in 'verdele.' Any thoughts
on where this might be? His legation centred in Flanders and the kingdom
of France, but even the indefatigable Dicksons gave up on this placename.
Any help would much appreciated, since the exemplum's worth triples if I
know where it was supposed to take place.
