Just a little plug for McGill here, we have a program called Social Studies
in Medicine, two of its members are the inimitable medievalist Faith Wallis
and Anthropologist Margaret Lock. McGill's web site may help you with more
information. Faith was (last I checked) resolutely off e-mail, but may have
changed her mind. There is also the equally inimitable Nancy Partner who
has done work on psychoanalytic theory and medieval texts - including
suggesting the unthinkable - that medieval mystics had a lot in common with
Freud's hysterics. Just two names to look for in your bibliographical
