Dear All
on the subject of words, can I recommend Peter Biller's 'Words and the
Medieval Notion of "Religion"', Journal of Ecclesiastical History 36
(1985) 351-369.
I have also been meaning to ask for some time now what the rest of the
list thinks about Gavin Langmuir's *History, Religion and Anti-semitism*,
in particular (1) how useful we find the division between 'religion' and
'religiosity'; and (2) whether we agree with his causal hierarchy
('religiosity leads to religion')?
cheers
