Dear Prof.Izbicki,
Kind of you to enquire about Capranica. It is over
twenty years since I published on Capranica's library. I do not think
that one ever forgets one's early research enthusiasms and Renaissance
cardinals (as well as Counter-Reformation ones) remain a
deep interest and I try to keep on file all current literature.
I still have the transcript and microfilm of Capranica's library catalogue
and one day I should like to do it "properly". It was passing the palace
and seminary next door (which I have never got inside) in the square in
Rome on route to the Archivio di Stato that was the main inspiratio.
There has been a recent Italian monograph on Cparanica which I have not
seen, part indeed of a current crop of important books and articles on
Renaissance cardinals, including a quite formidable German book on
Jean Jouffroy.
Best regards,
Tony Antonovics, University of Bristol
