In September 1996, Bert Roest, University of Groningen, graduated on
Franciscan historiography. His dissertation included several chapter on
Franciscan education in the 13th - 14th centuries. It is the most
comprehensive survey I know, and it's very good. His dissertation is
printed:
ROEST, Bert, _Reading the book of history_ (Groningen: Regenboog 1996)
