As I probably should know this (but I don't), I would be absurdly
grateful if someone out there could tell me (i) if the twelfth-
century cartulary of the sometimes independent, sometimes Cluniac,
abbey [sic] of St Cyprian near Poitiers survives [and if so, where?]
and (ii) if it does survive, has it been published?
The Vita of Bernard of Tiron gives the impression (VBT c 7, PL
172:1403-4) that he returned to St Cyprian as its abbot after he
personally (and sucessfully) petitioned Paschal II to preserve
its independence, and I would like to know if there is any charter
evidence to support the vita (note to Kathy Troup: or have I simply
mistranslated/misunderstood the Latin ?).
Many thanks, and tot ziens,
jon
