There's a lot on this in different ways I think,
Brian Golding, in Anglo-Norman Studies 1989 to 1992 (not sure which one)
looks at anglo-norman burials in England.
And on all the ramifications of burial as part of a complicated social
relationship, we are lucky to have Megan McLaughlin on this list (start
with her book, is it Consorting with the Saints? (Cornell 1995 or 4?))
though her focus is much broader issues, she does deal with this, if I'm
not misremembering ..
as usual the references are incomplete - my notes are somewhere else but I
think this should get you to a useful start ...
