Although I have never taken Italian, I had no difficulty understanding
Alberto's message (my French and Latin help, I suppose, more than my
Anglo-Saxon or rudimentary German!). With a dictionary, I could
probably read with some facility, but not reply in Italian. Do you mind
replies in English?
The subjects Alberto mentioned are of interest to me, particularly the
conversion and acculturation processes between Christianity and, in my
case, Anglo-Saxon culture, including the relationship between oral and
written traditions. I would enjoy reading, and perhaps contributing to,
a multilingual discussion of these issues.
Regarding the Vita Martini: I checked the Labyrinth and did not see it
under Latin authors. An English translation from the Nicene and Post
Nicene Fathers is online, but that probably is not what you need or
want.
