Friends and Colleagues
In 597 St. Augustine and his missionaries landed in Kent and converted the
English nation again to Christianity. St. Augustine become the first
Archbishop of Canterbury. My home county, Kent in the UK is celebrating the
1400th anniversary of this historical event this year.
During Xmas I had an idea to build a web site for this important event in the
British Church history. I thought it will be a small site but now it has many
pages and more to come. The existing site was constructed in hurry in the
last two weeks so forgive me for the typos etc. It is only a draft (or in
computer language "beta" version!). I am putting it on the net to let you
review, comment, criticize and more importantly help in building it. So
Please keep your comments flowing.
The site URL is
http://users.aol.com/butrousch/augustine/index.htm
I have only completed the journey of the missionaries from Rome to Kent. The
missionaries arrived Kent after Easter 597 AD (or CE). I shall in the few
months before Easter prepare the web pages on the topics of the missionaries
work in Kent in 597 AD.
I shall keep upgrading the site during this year. My intention is to include
a comprehensive review of the mission and the primary sources both in Latin
and modern English. My reward that the site will be useful.
