Yesterday, Thursday 23 Oct, the network link between Newcastle University
and Janet was down between 10:39 and 19:34.
BT have informed us that this was caused by "extensive damage to the cable
near Stannington by a third party".
This meant that the Mailbase web service was unavailable, and messages
sent via Mailbase will not have reached their recipients.
NO MESSAGES HAVE BEEN LOST, BUT THERE MAY BE SOME DELAY IN THE DELIVERY OF
QUEUED MAIL.
