Dear Otfried,
Many thanks for your Fra Dolcino reference. The problem is when the
'Lezenda' was written, after 1260, of course. That could give us a clue as
to whether a more general or more pointed reference is intended. But the
connection of "Gaz(z)ari" with the followers of Fra Dolcino is intriguing,
because, as you know, Segarelli's Apostles--the sectarian ancestors of Fra
Dolcino?--were founded the same memorable, Joachite year, 1260, as that
which saw the flagellant movement, and in the Parma of Salimbene, who led
flagellant processions.
